Our porcelain museum is housed in a wing of the Porcelain Manufactory. With over 150 representative pieces from various artistic phase, the museum tales the story of Austrian porcelain. Indeed, at the beginning of the exhibition on the upper floor of the museum, guests learn about the genesis of porcelain in China and the European fascination with the product which ensued. Once the right balance between porcelain’s constitutive componenets was struck 1718, the first Viennese manufactory under Claudius Innocentius de Paquier was born. Then, as you continue to wonder through our museum, you will learn more about the various production stages required to acheive the highest quality of poercelain. Last but not least, the ground floor of our museum houses some of our notable creations from the 20th and 21st centuries as well as a bit more information about our company and the changes we underwent over time as we reopened our doors at Augarten in 1923. Our impressive collection of porcelain pieces also showcases important artistic patternships we have made over the years. One will notably note art deco services and figurines crafted by well- known artists such as Michael Powolny, Vally Wieselthier, Josef Hoffmann and Friedrich Ludwig Berzeviczy-Pallavicini. To this day, yes still collaborate extensively with designers, sculptors and painters who are fascinated with porcelain as an artistic medium. Additionally, alongside our permanent exhibition, we also hosts two special exhibitions every year that touch upon historical and current thematics surrounding Viennese porcelain. Thus, each step of the porcelain making process is separated along different task lines in order for individuals to become true experts in their field. Thus, at Augarten we have mold makers, pourers, modelers, stove setters, painters or a gold polishers, all of whom are true masters of their craft. The company holiday at the production area takes place from July 30th – August 12th. During the guided tour, all explanations about making porcelain will be given by our experienced guides.
