Mělník has been a site for important historic events of Central Europe since 1600s and as a result displays features of various times of history. Explore this interesting town with your guide. The main attractions are concentrated in the Old Town. The beautiful Renaissance style Mělník chateau sits on a cliff above the junction of two rivers. It is owned by the Lobkowicz family for 200 years. A tour of the chateau gives valuable insight into the lifestyle of the wealthy in the past testimony being the grand furniture and paintings. There are also regular exhibitions of modern works of art and a roomwith an extensive collection of old maps and engravings. Below the chateau, there are large wine cellars which are a must visit. Charles IV brought the Burgundy vine varieties in the 14th Century from France and till today wine aficionados flock to taste and buy the dry, fruit flavoured wines. Other attractions are church of Saint Peter and Paul and the Ossuary. After the tour enjoy the time at leisure and explore the city on your own. Return to Prague in the afternoon.
