Dresden, capital of the eastern German state of Saxony, is distinguished by the celebrated art museums and classic architecture of its reconstructed old town. The tour of Dresden takes apporx 3hrs including walking tour of the city and visit to one of the famous museums. Our guided walking tour will take you around the Old Town of Dresden. You learn more about the capital of Saxony, its former rulers – the house of Wettin and their collections e.g. in the Residential Palace. When we pass the Catholic Court Church, we get a closer look at the Semper Opera House and the famous Zwinger Palace. The Zwinger is a palace which is a monument built in Baroque style and it served as the orangery, exhibition gallery and festival arena of the Dresden Court. The location was formerly part of the Dresden fortress of which the outer wall is conserved. Surely one of the highlights is the rebuilt “Church of our Lady” and the surrounding architecture. During our guided tour we would also like to show you one of the world`s longest mural paintings – portraying Saxon rulers from the 11th till 19th century. During this walking tour your guide is also going to show you the ‘Balcony of Europe’. Brühl's Terrace (Balcony of Europe) which is an original part of the town’s fortifications of Dresden. Here you can appreciate the view for the whole town. Take a break from the exploring and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Continue your tour with a visit to one of the museums for an enriching experience. Group comes in from Prague and reaches Pillnitz (fixed departure timinigs of the boat) and takes the steam boat to Dresden (refreshments available on board). Group can also explore Schloss Pillnitz on their own : https:// www.schlosspillnitz.de/en/home/ Alternatively group can take the steam boat ride on the way back – Dresden to Pillnitz.
