Zagreb, the capital of neighbouring Croatia, is a remarkable city of many faces. On the tour, we walk through the three historic parts of Zagreb, the medieval Upper Town (Gornji Grad), Kaptol, and monumental Lower Town (Donji Grad). DAY 11: ZAGREB TO PLITVICE LAKES FOR SIGHTSEEING AND THEN TO ZADAR Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. With your tour director drive south towards Zadar. On the way stop at the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park for a tour with local English-speaking guide. The UNESCO listed Plitvice Lakes lie amidst the greenery of hilly Croatian countryside. Every year, over a million nature lovers visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of the most beautiful natural sites in Europe, covering an area of 30,000 ha. In a valley between high forested mountains lie, one below another, 16 beautiful lakes of crystal blue-green colour. Continue your journey and drive further south to arrive in Zadar. Check into the hotel. Enjoy time at your own leisure. Dinner and overnight in Zadar. DAY 12: ZADAR SIGHTSEEING THEN TO SPLIT Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. Proceed for a guided tour of Zadar with your local guide. Zadar is an ancient city, built in the center of the Croatian Adriatic, full of historical and cultural monuments. Its 3000 years of tumultous and dynamic history consists of devastation occuring many times but the city, like a phoenix, emerged stronger, richer and more beautiful every time. Then with your tour director continue your journey further south to arrive in the beautiful Dalmatian coastal city of Split. Free time for lunch. (N/I). Then explore the city with a local guide. Split is known for its beaches and the fortress like complex at its center, Diocletian's Palace, erected by the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Once home to thousands, its sprawling remains include more than 200 buildings. Later check into the hotel. Enjoy your own time at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Split. DAY 13: DAY TRIP TO KRKA NATIONAL PARK Breakfast at the hotel. Drive north to arrive in the spectacular KRKA National Park. Proceed for a tour with a local guide. Krka National Park is situated along the Krka River in southern Croatia. It's known for a series of 7 waterfalls. In the south, Skradinski Buk waterfall is flanked by traditional watermills. To the north, a nature trail passes another striking cascade, Roški Slap, and the Krka Monastery, built above ancient Roman catacombs. Visovac Island is home to the 15th century Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy. Return to Split. Enjoy some time at your own leisure. Dinner and overnight in Split.
