29 DAY 5: SALZBURG TO VIENNA Breakfast at the hotel, check out. Proceed to Vienna. Arrive in Vienna and explore the city with your local guide. From the magnificent buildings of the Ring to the splendour of Schonbrunn Palace, you'll see all the highlights of Vienna on this three-hour city tour. The tour gives you a thorough overview of Vienna's most significant historical sights, and focuses on the famous Schönbrunn Palace. Along the Ringstrasse, Vienna`s main boulevard we show you numerous magnificent buildings, such as the MAK-Austrian museum of applied Arts, The State Opera House, Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament, the National Theatre, City Hall, University, Votive Church, Urania, City park and then drive to the Schönbrunn palace and have a walk through its gardens and visiting the imperial apartments. Schönbrunn Palace is part of the World Cultural Heritage and Austria's most visited sight. This Baroque synthesis of different arts, consisting of a palace and gardens, has been in the possession of the Habsburgs for centuries, and is today largely in its original historical condition. Free time for lunch (N/I). Check into the hotel. Evening at your own leisure. Dinner and overnight in Vienna. DAY 6: VIENNA TO LJUBLJANA Breakfast at the hotel followed by check out. With your tour director drive south to Slovenia towards the capital city Ljubljana. On the way stop for lunch (N/I) and sightseeing in: • Maribor, a city in the Eastern Alps, with a deep winemaking heritage and beautiful natural settings OR • Ptuj is an old town of new experiences. The castle above the town with the oldest wine cellars dominates over the streets with one of the most colourful carnivals in the world and the Kurenti masks, the exceptional character of which has also been recognised by UNESCO.
